Jewel Nightclub Las Vegas
Definitely the “Jewel in The Crown” of my nightclub lighting design. So much hard work went into this one. From convincing a skeptical account manager (who’s initial response to the concept sketches was “Nice, but they’ll never go for it”) to putting together a convincing pitch, all the way to practicalities of assisting in the design of mounts for the Ayrton Magic Dots, nestled in amongst the Dream Panels to ensure they protruded “just enough”.
None of the envisioned end product could have been achieved without the amazing work from Avolites, basically writing software to play video across the lighting elements (the embryo of our idea, that evolved into their Synergy product) and have the consoles take BPM information from the DJ’s decks (now the DJ Link feature on all their consoles)
For what it’s worth, the creative part of the pitch rested on the twin pillars of “not just another night club with every surface clad in LED screens” and “It’s never been done before”. Luckily it worked!
